Dental Benefits
Benefits are based on the current dental association fee guide for your province of residence. All dental benefits are subject to a $25 calendar year deductible (maximum $50 per family). For groups of five or less employees, or who have no previous group insurance coverage – to be replaced by this program – coverage is limited to $500 per person for the first calendar year. Thereafter, all dental benefits are limited to $1,000 per person per calendar year. Each employee can choose single or family coverage, or can waive this coverage entirely if there is comparable coverage under a spouse’s plan.
Some available features include:
Basic Services (100% reimbursement)
- Cavity revealing (Bite Wings) X-rays
- Cleaning of teeth (Twice per calendar year)
- Either radiographs or panoramic films (not both)
- Extractions
- Fillings
- Pit and fissure sealant
- Routine examinations
- Topical application of fluoride
Additional Basic Services (50% reimbursement)
- Addition of teeth to existing dentures or fixed bridgework
- Initial installation of full or partial removable dentures or fixed bridgework
- Initial provision of crowns, gold inlays or onlays if tooth broken due to injury
- Placement of veneers on anterior teeth only (but not for cosmetic purposes)
- Replacement of existing crowns, inlays and onlays after a period of 5 years since placement of the restoration
- Replacement of existing full or partial removable dentures or fixed bridgework
Major Restorative Services (50% reimbursement)
- Relining and rebasing of removable dentures
- Root canal therapy (endodontics)
- Treatment of the gums (periodontics)
